Inside FRONTLINE Watching the World Change

July 28, 2010

David Breashears in the Himalayas
VIEW: Photographs taken by David Breashears that offer a startling glimpse of fast disappearing glaciers in Tibet and the Himalayas.

A mountaineer, photographer, and filmmaker -- FRONTLINE's Storm Over Everest; and Dreams of Tibet -- Breashears has reached the summit of Mount Everest five times.

He is executive director of the Glacier Research Imaging Project, a joint undertaking with the Asia Society's Center on U.S.-China Relations. The project is comparing contemporary photographs of glaciers in the Himalaya and Tibetan Plateau with photos taken over the last 110 years.
