It Can Be Changed by Ellen S. Miller

Changing the corrupt system will take more than shutting loopholes like soft money and issue ads, says Miller, executive director of Public Campaign. 'Additional Views' by Senator Joseph Lieberman

Lieberman (D-Conn.) serves on the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs and took part in its investigation into the 1996 campaign finance abuses. He wrote this thought-provoking and detailed indictment of the bipartisan abuses of 1996 to be part of the final report of the Senate's investigation. It is a compelling overview of what Lieberman describes as his "overarching sense emerging from the investigation that our polity has fallen down a long dark hole into a place that is far from the vision and values of those who founded our democracy."
