Scott was a friend of the Kellys and the owner of a local video store and shoe
repair business. His father was a superior court judge. Before Scott's arrest,
he was the president of the local country club, where Bob Kelly was the golf
pro. He did not work at Little Rascals in any capacity and claims never to have
set foot on the day care premises. According to the prosecution, he was
identified as a perpetrator in the case by the children. At one point, there
was a theory that the prosecution had linked him to the case through child
pornography at his video store, although no evidence of this ever surfaced.
Privott was arrested in 1989 and spent 3 1/2 years in jail. In April 1993, his
bail was reduced from $1 million to $50,000 and he was released on bond. By
this time, he and his wife had separated.
In January 1994, after Bob's conviction, Scott pleaded "no contest" and
received a sentence of time served, meaning that the time he had already spent
in prison sufficed. He also was sentenced to five years probation. Scott has a
new job, working for a telephone company as a repairman, and a new girlfriend.
