Casteneda is a leading Latin American political scientist and professor
of political science at the National University of Mexico. He writes a monthly
column on the economics and politics of Latin America for The New York
Times and is the author of The Mexican Shock.
Fischer is First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary
Fund. Prior to taking this position in 1994, he was the Killian Professor and
the Head of the Department of Economics at MIT. He also served as Chief
Economist at the World Bank.
Garten is Dean of the Yale School of Management and author of The
Big Ten: The Big Emerging Markets and How They Will Change Our Lives. As an
investment banker, he was involved in sovereign and corporate debt
restructurings in Latin America and Asia during the 1980s. He was Undersecretary
of Commerce for International Trade in the Clinton administration.
Greider is a Washington-based journalist who has worked in newspapers,
magazines and television for over 35 years. His most recent book is One
World, Ready or Not, The Manic Logic of Global Capitalism.
Johnson was a top portfolio manager for George Soros's Quantum Fund, a
private investment fund, from 1992 to 1995. He left the money management
business in 1996.
Krugman is the Ford International Professor of International Economics at
MIT. He specializes in international trade and finance and his most recent
book is The Return of Depression Economics.
Luttwak is a well known military strategist and consultant, and Senior
Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington D.C.
He is the author of Turbo Capitalism: Winners and Losers in the Global
Economy.
David J. Rothkopf is the former Deputy Undersecretary of the Commerce
Department under the Clinton administration and is now president of an
international advisory firm. He is also an adjunct professor of international
and public affairs at Columbia University.
Sachs is the Galen L. Stone Professor of International Trade at
Harvard University and the Director of the Center for International
Development. He has served as an economic advisor to governments in Latin
American, Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia and Africa.
Soros is a billionaire and philanthropist and Chairman of Soros Fund
Management LCC, a private investment management firm that serves as principal
advisor to the Quantum Group of Funds. He is the author of The Crisis of
Global Capitalism.
Stiglitz is Senior Vice President and Chief Economist at the World
Bank. Previously, he was Chairman of the U.S. Council of Economic Advisers
under President Bill Clinton.
