Dear FRONTLINE,

The report was very good. It did not change my views which have been in support of the independent counsel. We would not need as many if the press did un-bias reporting. If the press had been on the ball in 1992 Clinton would never have been the democratic parties pick. Here we are 6 years later and after bringing shame to the office of the President the press is finally waking up and doing the job they have in the past done so well. It would be a major improvement to have some balance in the media, like Fox/News

Dear FRONTLINE,

I am in complete support of the independent council investigating any possible corruption that might exist within the government. And upon finding irrefutable evidence prosecuting all those involved to the fullest extent of the law. No one, not even the president is beyond reproach nor above the law. I believe we need more people like Starr and Smaltz to weed out the infestation of corruption in the U.S. government. Starr is successful because he is right! He is sticking to the Constitution and that is something you can't bend!!

Dear FRONTLINE,

Thank you so much for the informative and very understandable report on the independent counsel and Donald Smaltz. I was very concerned with the justice dept corruption and apparent corruption of the White house itself. What if anything can the average person do to help put a stop to big business running the country. Please don't say "vote" as that means trading one evil for another. The very fact that Donald Smaltz was scared put the icing on the cake for me I was already aprehensive of the governments corruption now I'm downright terrrified. In some respects the Old (and New) Soviet Union has it better at least most of their population knows the government cant be trusted Öbut here we are still learning and big business in America is laughing its way all the way to the bank. They (most of them) know that the gig is up and are taking advatage (you might say) of insider information. DON'T kid yourselves we know whats coming . we just wish there was a way to slow it down. God's will be done. Thank you - Dave, Southgate, MI.

Dear FRONTLINE,

Frontline appeared to ask, "if there's no independent counsel, who can credibly investigate the President and his cabinet?" The Attorney General is conflicted. But Frontline didn't suggest the answer that the Constitution provides: Congress. With the House's power of subpoena and the Senate's right to try impeachments, Congress can remove from office ANY federal official. After that, the regular court system can take over.

It is this essential part of our system of checks and balances that the independent counsel law has been trying to supplant. No wonder it's failing!

Dear FRONTLINE,

Merely the existence of an Independent Counsel shows that our elected officials value politics over integrity. Influence has always been a fabric of the American Justice System. A common criminal can appear to be a model citizen with the right($$) counsel. This political/judicial system of ours is one of a kind!!

Dear FRONTLINE,

I have been opposed to the Special Council postion, but after seeing your program I am leaning toward the need to continue the law.

I am concerned that we are governed by lawyers who see the world as some intellectual game...how to bend the law to its limits.... how to play word games and, in general, treat the population as contemptuous drival to be saved by their superiority. Because Clinton's administration exemplifies this view and seems to stop at nothing to protect their image and, on the other hand, there was Nixon what is our choice? Independent councils I guess.

Dear FRONTLINE,

This was one of the finest presentations of facts little known in todays "politically correct" view of life. Thanks for helping me see behind the veil. I love our country, but our system can not stand without 90% of it's free people abiding by absolute moral laws that benefit everybody. We have drifted, but thanks for one legal individual who put absolute values back into justice.

Dear FRONTLINE,

I now feel special prosecutors are invaluable at rooting out political cronies. The powers of special prosecutors should be expanded under the law.

On the basis of this episode, I feel as though I will begin to support PBS again.

Thanx
