The Questions and Fears of one Muslim Community
A few months after the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa, FRONTLINE went to Arlington, Texas to talk with members of its Muslim-American community about the arrest of one of their members, Wadih El Hage, who was since convicted for his role in those bombings. This 1999 interview with Muslim community leaders in Arlington conveys their concerns about the prejudice and misunderstanding confronting Muslims in America and throughout the world.

Understanding Islam
Bernard Lewis, a well-known scholar of Islamic civilization, has a collection of his illuminating articles published in The New York Review of Books.. A good article to start with is Lewis's January 1988 essay, "Islamic Revolution."

Muslims in America
The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) web site contains critiques of Western media depictions of Muslims, a quarterly newsletter covering issues of concern to Muslims in America, and a number of fact sheets and "frequently asked questions" on modern Islam.
