David Axelson, M.D., is the director of the Child and Adolescent Bipolar Services Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Kiki Chang, M.D., is director of the Pediatric Bipolar Disorders Program at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., and is an associate professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Thomas R. Insel, M.D., is the director of the National Institute of Mental Health. His office recently published the report, "NIMH Perspective on Diagnosing and Treating Bipolar Disorder in Children."

Robert Temple, M.D., is the director of the Office of Medical Policy of the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research and the acting director of the Office of Drug Evaluation I (ODE-I). The FDA is the U.S. government agency responsible for testing and approving prescriptive drugs for use in adults and children.

David Shaffer, M.D., is the chief of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center. His work has centered on understanding the cause of depressive illness in youth and how it factors into the diagnosis of unipolar and bipolar illness in childhood and adolescence.

Merrill Goozner is the director of the Integrity in Science project at the Center for Science in the Public Interest. A former business journalist, he is the author of The $800 Million Pill: The Truth Behind the Cost of New Drugs.
