This is the companion Web site for FRONTLINE's 1996 program chronicling filmmaker Marian Marzynski's journey to Poland to search for remnants of the lives and memories of an entire Jewish village, a shtetl, lost in the Holocaust. This site offers stories of Polish rescuers of Jews during the war; readings on Polish-Jewish relations over the centuries; an article on the Treblinka death camp where the Jews of the village of Bransk were sent; and an excerpt from writer Eva Hoffman's book, Shtetl — The Life and Death of a Small Town and the World of Polish Jews. Also included are viewers' letters about the program.
